- Cause of death was Quinsey, an abscess between the back of the tonsil and the wall of the throat. William died at the age of 57 years. William was born in Belfast, and resided at 63 Great Georges Street.

Buried at Clifton Street Cemetery, City of Belfast. Graves in lower grounds, Lot C 48-49. [Formerly large pedimented monument with centre tablet in arched recess and two slate tablets on each side, now all laid flat in the ground]. Samuel Bruce Vance, died 1 January 1850, platform 'C', grave number 48. Erected by William Vance, in memory of his four children who died in infancy [Left- hand tablet]; William Vance died 5 October 1855 aged 56 years; Jane Martin, his wife died 9th March 1860 aged 57 years [Right -hand tablet] Also their daughter Jane Martin Vance, died 5th January 1911; Also Annie Vance, born May 1836, died Jan 1925. Graves purchased by William Vance in December 1949, grave 48, and grave 49 in April 1850.
