- graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic on Feb. 26, 1953. He began his practice in Keokuk on March 10, 1953, and served the tri-state area until his retirement. He loved chiropractic and enjoyed seeing people get well. His favorite slogan regarding chiropractic is "It Works!" He was a charter member of the American Chiropractic Association and a charter member of the Chiropractic Society of Iowa. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army Air Force. He was a member of Hamilton V.F.W. Post #5256 and Keokuk American Legion Post. He was a 50 year member of Denver Lodge #464, Denver, Gate City Chapter #7, Royal Arch Masons, Damancers Commandery #5 Knights Templain, Apolla Council of Keokuk, Valley of Quincy Consistory, KAABA Shrine of Davenport, Iowa, Order of Eastern Star and served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 7th Western District of the State of Illinois in 1982 and 1983. He was awarded the York Rite Cross of Honor in 1953. He was also a member of the Past Masters and Past Commanders of the York Rite, State of Iowa. Recently, he received an award for 50 years of loyal service from the Quincy Consistory. He served as captain of the Keokuk Chief Patrol for the Keokuk Shriners.
Dr William Vance was Married to Martha Riley Vance and Martha is the mother of Dr. William A. Vance’s 6 sons. Ron, John, Don, Lon, Rod, and Dave. Leora Worrell married Dr. Vance after he and Martha were divorced. Dr. Vance and Leora had one daughter, Aimee. [2, 3]
