- In August 2002, Douglas Richardson came up with the remarkablefinding that this George Nevill, rather than his father, was thefather of Jane Neville who married Henry Poole. He cited thefollowing evidence:1. A dispensation, dated 1531 in the epsicopal register ofStephen Gardiner, bishop of Winchester, for Jane's daughterKatherine to marry Francis Hastings even though they wererelated in the third degree - through a common descent fromRichard Wydvil, 1st earl Rivers. 2. The Hastings pedigree in the 1619 Visitation of Leics, thoughit does not specifiy which George Neville was her father.3. The will of the yougner George Nevill in which he mentions"Henry lord Mountagewe and Jane the wife of the said Henrydaughter to me." He also names "Henry Poole kt. Lord Montague"as one of his executors .In addition, in Oct 2002, I found a categorical confirmation inthe Kent 1530-1 Visitation, p. 15.
