- "Scottish Supplications to Rome" mention Edward several times. One petition to Rome, dated 6th September1419
mentions that Edward de Lawedr, priest, had previously been vicar of Gogar before being promoted to the Archdeaconry of Lothian,. Another, recorded at Florence on 31st May 1420, gives greater detail. It states: Edward de Lawedre, priest, St.Andrew's Diocese, , M.A.of Paris, who has studied theology for 6 years, craves that the Pope would provide him to the parish church or vicarage of Crail, in Fife,at œ30 sterling per annum; notwithstanding a canonry, and the Archdeaconry of Lothian in the Church of St.Andrews, a dignity with cure, but not major ; and not withstanding a dispensation for defect of birth [his parents not being married - see elsewhere] .
