He spent his childhood in Naples and was educated at Wadham House, Hove, Sussex, England 1910-1917; he was at Brighton College, Sussex from 1918-1919, where he was prepared for baptism and cofirmed into the Anglican Church by The Bishop of Lewes at the College Chapel on 1 Jul 1919 ; he passed into the Royal Military College, Woolwich, where he became a naturalised British subject 24 Mar 1920 and received a regular commission as 2/Lt Royal Artillery 12 Dec 1921; Captain 12 Dec 1934; Major 12 Dec 1938. Between the wars he was stationed in Germany and India; he served in the Eighth Army in North Africa in 1941 and retired with the rank of Major. He never used his first forename but used his forename Fazil as a surname . Major Fazil spoke only English and French and was an accomplished bridge player; he was a member of The United Hunts Club, Army and Navy Club, Oxford and Cambridge Club. Will of 2 Mar 1969 proven 28 Dec 1978 at Principal Registry of the Family Division of the High Court of Justice, London.
