    Jacob (and wife Catherine) Wantz are listed (among others) in a document dated 15 Sept. 1837; regarding his interest in a tract of land which belonged to Adam Wantz, deceased.... Jacob is listed as Adam's heir.

    1820 (W)VA Census; Greenbrier Co.-- this schedule indicates that Jacob & Catharine had a female child, under 10 years at this time. Being that they were married in 1817, it's very likely that they had at least one child by c1820. The 1830 and 1840 census schedules both indicate that they had a female child born c1820.

    July, 1821-- Jacob purchases a tract of land containing 171+ acres from William Fenton (of Champaign Co., OH); parcel of land is situated in Monroe Co., on the ridge between Carpenter's Run and Bushy Run; both being branches of Second Creek.

    September, 1821-- Jacob Vance & Catharine, his wife, sell the above listed tract of land to James Fury for $1.

    30 November 1838; Grant; Jacob VANCE of Monroe Co.; 136 acres on Carpenter's Run & Maple; surveyed 20 October 1837 (#12928); situated in Monroe & Greenbrier Co., greater part in Monroe Co. on Carpenter's & Maple Springs runs, branches of Second Creek.
